COLLINS CAP CERAMICS

Beres Taylor is our resident potter.
Beres has recently returned to ceramics after a stint of teaching. He spent 3 years as a ceramics student at the Hobart TAFE diploma course in ceramics in 1990-92 and more recently with Alan Baxter at the Whitehouse Pottery at Somersham in England. Beres has also worked as a production thrower at a pottery at Dingle in Ireland.
Beres' major works in ceramic
murals and business logos are done in stoneware.
The current murals depict a range of Tasmanian birds and animals.
The murals are sculptured from slabs and show some aspects of 3-D effects. The
bisqued pieces have been decorated with underglaze colours and finally covered
with a clear gloss glaze to give some spectacular effects.
Business logos can be produced in the same way.
Beres' latest work has been with "Southern Ice" porcelain. New shapes are appearing in vases and drinking vessels, generally finished with a clear glaze, some with subtle additions of underglaze features and now some air brush work.
