Michael is Tasmania's only Glass Beveller. He is also a member of the Glass Engravers Guild of the U.K.

As well as glass bevelling Michael also does brilliant cutting, acid etching, stipple engraving and sand blasting. As Michael says, "it is interesting to see just what you can do with such an ordinary medium as flat glass". The works on display at the gallery include a range of acid-etched platters and windows, brilliant-cut sun-catcher decorations, polished glass bookends and small mirror clocks featuring Tasmanian timber bases. The gallery walls are adorned with a number of spectacular decorative mirrors.

He has had his glass bevelling and surface decoration workshop here at Loculus for the past 16 years. In that time he has created a wide variety of innovative effects on glass surfaces for clients as diverse as the AMP building banking offices, Tasmanian Forestry Commission, New Parliament House Canberra, St John's Catholic Church Glenorchy as well as being featured in television Lifestyle programs, and a number of exhibitions at both the Handmark Gallery at Salamanca Place and the Schoolhouse Gallery at Rosny.
